So, NHL training camp = four days long. The rest is pre-season games until October 7. So there ya go. Four days of training. You should be good for the year now. Go have fun. Don't get too hurt.

Sportsmanship: DeAngelo Hall doesn't haz it. So, immediately after getting torched for 497 yards, you call an opposing quarterback unimpressive and say that he was clearly rattled, and after personally giving up 114 yards and a touchdown to a team's number TWO receiver, you say the team's number ONE guy (better numbers, played hurt, kicked your guys' tails) really didn't impress you. Yeah, okay.

And, heading into week three, left tackle Duane Brown is suddenly suspended? For unknowingly putting something illegal in his body? I have a...well, you know.

Unrelated (or is it???): AGONY! (What? Something for the ladies who hate it when I talk sports)

Finally, required viewing: It's 1978. You're twelve years old. You've just seen the movie JAWS. What do you do? Gather up your friends and make your OWN shark attack movie! This is amazing. It's ten minutes of a homemade shark and stock footage attacking junior high kids. And who doesn't want to see that?
No, seriously. I'm impressed. Very creative, and very "who gives a darn if we don't know what we're doing?" Here, I'll post it here so you don't even have to leave blogger. Ladies and gentlemen, "Shark":

v2, d144: Recommended Reading
* Stephan Pastis, the creator of one of my current favorite comic strips, Pearls Before Swine, keeps a blog that is one of the funniest things I read semi-regularly. (S'why I linked to it on the left, I suppose) Through the years, Mr. Pastis and his strips have poked more than just a little bit of fun at many staples of the funny paper industry. (I don't know if anybody could actually work Bill Keane of Family Circus fame into a murderous rage, but Pastis probably comes pretty close from time to time) Many times, these jabs come at the expense of some of his closest buddies in comicdom like Darby Conley (Get Fuzzy) or Scott Adams (Dilbert) but that is by no means a hard and fast rule.
Anyway, Pastis recent blog on the retirement of the comic strip Cathy is, well...surprising. And very good. And here.
* Speaking of comics (of course), CBR is doing a countdown of the 75 most memorable moments in DC history. The results were voted on by fans of the site. I voted. And the results are being released 10 at a time.
* Speaking of...er...minor-league hockey? Our favorite Aeros blog (okay, the only Aeros blog I'm aware of) is doing a Meet Your Aeros feature. It's better than my features. And it's a fun way to get hyped up for the season.
* XKCD is an often-ranchy online comic strip that I'm not really recommending. However, this still makes me laugh weeks later.
* You know what's cute? Baby flamingos. Baby flamingos are cute.
* Finally, who would have guessed that Scott Pilgrim vs. The World would have ended up only six points behind Inception on the Tomatometer?

v2, d86: Link-sharing Party!!!!!
Party week continues!
**First up, check out this video from my highly creative friend and fellow blogger Abby. (Some of you will remember her better as the one with the hockey stick)
**If you're like me, you've spent many an hour sitting around, staring at the ceiling, and thinking, "Man, I sure wish someone would go to all the trouble of making a full-length Megaman movie and posting it for free Internet consumption." Well folks, I've got good news.
**Fans of astro-rock band Brave Saint Saturn will be interested in this tidbit they threw up on the Interwebs for those faithful followers of the band on twitter. What's it mean? Possibly nothing. (Those of you who've never heard of Brave Saint Saturn ought to click here, here, and here.
**In non-playoff hockey news, the Florida Panthers prove they are no better at picking slogans than they are at, well, being a National Hockey League franchise.
**In playoff-hockey related awesomeness, this post from Puck Daddy personifies bandwagon fan-dom. What's awesome is that this is the sort of thing that Blackhawks fans can justifiably rally around while Flyer fans can, equally justifiably, sit back and scoff about. Everybody wins!
**And finally: OH YEAH!
